In recent years, infections from microbial species have been noticed as one of the causes of mortality, indicating the design and development of simple, fast, accurate and cost-effective analytical tool is highly needed for the reliable detection methods of pathogenic microbial species. Electrochemical analytical tools have gained a remarkable attention for the detection of wide variety of pathogenic microbial species (bacteria, fungus and virus) because their rapidity, simplicity, cost-effective and sensitivity. This chapter concentrates on the integration of graphene oxide (GO) nanomaterials with electrochemical techniques for the detection of various microbial pathogens. Innovative GO nanomaterials-based electrochemical analytical tools are summarized that demonstrate high sensing ability towards microbial pathogens (bacteria, fungus and virus). Finally, we will conclude the summary of GO nanomaterials-based electrochemical microbial sensors for rapid screening of pathogens in real samples. © 2024
