북경 아시아경기대회(1990) 남북단일팀 구성을 위한 제3차 체육 회담: 중단과 재개

초록

The study aimed to elucidate the suspension, resumption, preparation, and negotiation process of the third sports talk for the formation of a unified North-South team for the 1990 Beijing Asian Games. The third talk was interrupted and later resumed due to the political and social situations in South and North Korea. The basic policy put forth by South Korea was to express regret over North Korea’s delay in convening the third talk and to encourage discussions on substantive issues. Notably, South Korea proposed a new Korean name, ‘Han Nara’ and agreed to adopt North Korea’s suggestion of the ‘white background with light blue map of our country. During the third talk, North and South Korea fully agreed on the ‘Korean Peninsula flag,’ which would symbolize the future unified team. However, issues such as the unified team’s Korean name and player selection underwent prolonged discussions without reaching a visible consensus.
