초록

In this paper, I argue for the usefulness of introducing a two-dimensionalist framework of modality into discussions about time. First, I argue that presentism is a theory that cannot be coherently understood, and that this feature is similarly observed in the growing block theory and the moving spotlight theory. Next, I argue that, in order to coherently understand these theories, we need to introduce two concepts of tense, which can be explained through two-dimensionalism about time. Finally, I argue that, in order for presentism interpreted in a two-dimensionalist way to actually work, we need a somewhat radical ontological revision.
