경제·안보 연계와 동아시아 지역질서의 변화 : FTA의 사례를 중심으로
초록
This study aims to examine the way in which East Asian countries take advantage of FTAs to link economy and security. For this, I present four types of economy-security nexus: (1) fused linkage, (2) economic pragmatism, (3) security driver, and (4) separation of economy and security. Based on this analytical typology, it is found that East Asian countries demonstrated various ways of linkage strategies. First, East Asian countries pursued fused linkage to create comprehensive alliance and secure advantageous position in redesigning the regional architecture. Second, East Asian countries executed economic pragmatism to maximize economic benefits from the rise of China by managing the existing security relations. Third, East Asian countries pursued limited economic gains in order to effectively adapt to increasing security threats.
