초록

Although there are many theories of causation which are seriously discussed among contemporary analytic philosophers, it is often claimed that there are some salient tendencies among these theories. In this paper I will examine such claims by J. Schaffer and N. Hall. After I examine their claims, I will suggest that only a particular factor of causation, namely dependence are closely related to the notion of explanation and moral responsibility. After that, I will argue that this discovery provides a new perspective on philosophical debates concerning free will.
