Purpose: This study aims to analyze and visualize the accessibility of public sports facilities in Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from a spatial equity perspective. Method: A gravity potential model was employed, incorporating distance, friction of distance, and potential demand population. Facility locations and inter-district distances were calculated using QGIS, while Microsoft Excel was used for data analysis. The results were visualized using QGIS mapping techniques. Results: Public sports facilities were predominantly concentrated in the eastern and central regions of Gwangmyeong City, aligning with areas of high population density, with the exception of Iljik-dong. The accessibility analysis revealed that Cheolsan 3-dong had the highest accessibility for gateball courts, golf ranges, and tennis courts; Haan 1-dong had the best access to archery fields, climbing facilities, track and field stadiums, and foot volleyball courts; Soha 1-dong was most accessible for roller-skating rinks and baseball fields; Soha 2-dong was the most accessible for swimming pools; and Haan 2-dong was the most accessible for indoor gyms. School-based sports facilities were primarily located in the northern and eastern regions, with Gwangmyeong 7-dong exhibiting the highest accessibility. In contrast, Gwangmyeong 1-dong, Hakon-dong, and Gwangmyeong 2-dong demonstrated the lowest levels of accessibility. Conclusion: Public sports facilities in Gwangmyeong City are unevenly distributed, with higher accessibility concentrated in densely populated areas, particularly in Cheolsan 3-dong, Haan 1-dong, Haan 2-dong, Soha 1-dong, and Soha 2-dong. Significant disparities in accessibility were observed based on facility type, with larger facilities generally providing greater access. These findings highlight the importance of considering spatial equity in the future planning of public sports facilities.
