This paper aims to summarize the achievements of existing research on Gamyeong and to seek new directions. To that end, it attempts an analysis of research outcomes categorized by content. Research on Gamyeong has been broadly classified into two main categories: ‘Gamyeong as a single organization’ and ‘Gamyeong center of the province’, with further subdivisions under each. The former is organized into two sections: the history of Gamyeong and its organization and facilities. The latter examines three areas: the population composition and job roles of the provincial government's location, publishing culture, and regional finance. Through this, the study offers an integrated view of Gamyeong research, which has thus far been fragmented across various elements, by summarizing the current conclusions on each topic. Additionally, by identifying the tendencies in research conducted on individual provincial units, it seeks to provide clues for further advancement in regional studies. Beyond these achievements, this paper highlights future tasks: first, expanding the research through the discovery and translation of administrative diaries that document the daily operations of each provincial Gamyeong; second, conducting case studies on Gamyeong financial management through analysis of Gamyeong-Sarye; and third, confirming the specific roles of Gamyeong and Governor in the area of publishing business. As an additional note, the integration of Gamyeong research calls for interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration. Because Gamyeong was influenced by the characteristics of each province, clarifying the diverse layers of Gamyeong would help reveal the distinctive features of each province more clearly and practically.
