Development of Detection Technologies for Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus

초록

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) which derives from thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) causes a severe and potentially fatal infection. Therefore, early diagnostic and accurate detection methods is essential for effective disease management. This review highlights recent advancements in diagnostic techniques, focusing on the principles and characteristics of each method. Molecular diagnostic methods, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based assays and next-generation sequencing (NGS), offer high sensitivity and specificity. Notably, CRISPR/ Cas-based diagnostics enable rapid and accurate genetic detection, making them suitable for point-of-care (POC) applications. Isothermal amplification techniques, such as loopmediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), efficiently amplify viral RNA with minimal equipment, further supporting POC testing. Immunochemical diagnostics, including ELISA, IFA, and ICA, utilize antigen-antibody interactions for fast and convenient viral protein detection. Additionally, biosensorbased diagnostics have shown significant progress, enabling real-time and rapid detection. The advancement of these diagnostic technologies holds promise for early diagnosis and containment of diseases like Dabie bandavirus, playing a crucial role in controlling disease spread and improving public health outcomes.
