= Abstract = Objectives: This study aimed to analyze trends in lifetime drinking experience among multicultural and non-multicultural high school students in South Korea using data from the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey between 2011 and 2024. Methods: Data were obtained from 358,607 high school students who responded to the lifetime drinking experience question. Students with at least one foreign-born parent were classified as from multicultural families. Chi-square tests and multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine differences in lifetime drinking experience and related sociodemographic factors, as well as time trend analysis. Results: The rate of lifetime drinking experience was significantly higher among non-multicultural students (52.5%) than multicultural students (45.8%) (p<.001). Significant differences were also observed in academic achievement, socioeconomic status, residential type, and grade. Logistic regression analysis showed higher odds of drinking among male students, those with lower academic or economic status, students with less stress, and students in higher grades. Year-specific differences were significant in 2014 and 2017, with a general downward trend overall. Additionally, multivariable logistic regression showed significantly higher odds of drinking among non-multicultural students in 2011 (OR: 1.54), 2014 (OR: 1.30), and 2017 (OR: 1.42). Conclusion: Lifetime drinking use is decreasing, and the gap between multicultural and non-multicultural high school students is narrowing, despite differences in their general characteristics. This underscores the need for continued early implementation of alcohol prevention policies for adolescents.
