초록

Two Gram-stain-negative, oxidase- and catalase-producing, facultatively aerobic, non-motile rod-shaped bacteria, designated AW1-32T and MW01-1-1T, were isolated from wetland soil in South Korea. Strain AW1-32T grew at 10–37 °C, pH 6.0–8.0, and 0–3.5% (w/v) NaCl, whereas strain MW01-1-1T grew at 10–37 °C, pH 6.0–8.0, and 0–1.5% (w/v) NaCl. The genomes of strains AW1-32T and MW01-1-1T comprised single chromosomes of 5,091 kb and 4,646 kb, with G + C contents of 38.5 mol% and 37.5 mol%, respectively. The two strains shared 95.6% 16 S rRNA gene sequence similarity, 73.6% average nucleotide identity (ANI), and 20.7% digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH), supporting their classification as distinct species. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16 S rRNA gene sequences and whole-genome data placed the two strains in separate lineages within the genus Pedobacter. Strain AW1-32T exhibited < 96.7% 16 S rRNA gene similarity, < 74.8% ANI, and < 20.2% dDDH with all type strains, while strain MW01-1-1T showed < 97.9% 16 S rRNA gene similarity, < 74.9% ANI, and < 20.8% dDDH with all type strains, all below species delineation thresholds. These results support their recognition as novel species. Menaquinone-7 was the sole respiratory quinone in both strains, and the major fatty acids (> 10%) were iso-C15:0 and summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c). Phosphatidylethanolamine was the predominant polar lipid. Based on phylogenetic, phenotypic, and genomic characteristics, strains AW1-32T and MW01-1-1T represent two novel species of the genus Pedobacter, for which the names Pedobacter terrestris sp. nov. (AW1-32T = KACC 23850T = JCM 37595T) and Pedobacter paludisoli sp. nov. (MW01-1-1T = KACC 23866T = JCM 37596T) are proposed.
