광주 고려인 마을 가족의 자녀 양육 경험과 부모교육에 대한 요구분석: 부모교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 연작 연구2

초록

This study, the second part in a series on parental education programs for Koryein families, examined the experiences of raising children and the needs for parental education of Koryein village families in Gwangju. To this end, Koryein families and officials from related institutions were selected as research participants, and data were collected through in-depth interviews and field investigations. The specific results of the study are as follows. First, Koryein families worked late so as to make ends meet while raising their children, had estranged relationships with their children, and worried about their children experiencing difficulties with bilingual education, a lack of learning, and their peer relationships. Second, Koryein parents formed trust in the institution and expressed a high degree of satisfaction in the case of arranging professional personnel for interpreting and the Korean language education at their children's educational institutions, in addition to communicating with their families. Third, research participants suggested the establishment of a healthy self-identity as an important factor in the growth and development of Koryein children, which showed various aspects depending on the parents' nationality, the children's birth country and their native language. Fourth, Koryein families and related organizations stated that a parental education program was needed as a way to support raising Koryein children, and requested support in terms of educational goals and contents, teaching and learning methods, and operational strategies. This study is meaningful in that it closely analyzed the Koryein parents' experience of raising children and their needs for support via parental education to develop a parental education program that considers the characteristics of Koryein families living in Korea.
