The Effect of Participation in Regular Exercise on Health-related Fitness and Creativity in Children with ADHD

초록

The purpose of the present study is to analyze, in depth, for a long period a change in health-related fitness variables and the creativity of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD). Fourteen elementary school students who are under being treated for ADHD at Child Psychiatric Clinic in Seoul participated in this study. Then health related fitness variables measured were height, weight, physical strength, i.e. muscular endurance, flexibility, agility, balance, muscular strength and endurance. The creativity was measured by the KCAP(Korean Creativity Assessment Packet) which was converted into Korean by Cho Yong-Tae (2007). Each exercise treatment of 60 minutes was performed twice a week, for a total of eight weeks. 2×2(group×time) factorial design with repeated measured two way ANOVA (p<.05) was performed to investigate any significant differences and interactions. The results of this study were as follows: first, a positive increase in their health-related fitness was found for the children with ADHD who performed exercise treatment and similarly a positive effect on creativity of children with ADHD.
