A Study on Music Structure of Buddhist Dance Accompaniment Music: Focusing on the Young-Sook Han, Mae-Bang Lee and Hong-Shim Chang School

초록

Young-sook Han, Mae-bang Lee and Hong-shim Chang’s Buddhist dance all use ‘Daepungryu’ as accompaniment music, but they show many differences in the structure of accompaniment music because they have developed their own characteristics of Buddhist dance. Therefore, I would like to first examine the musical composition and characteristics of Daepungryu and compare the differences of the three school’s accompaniment music structure. According to the comparison, all three school shows showed commonalities of traditional music, which started with the slowest music, drove it faster, and finished with a slow rhythm. However, in composition of music, Young-sook Han uses the composition of Daepungyu composed by Young-hee Ji, while Mae-bang Lee and Hong-shim Chang show different aspects. In particular, Hong-shim Chang has a similar form to Mae-bang Lee’s accompaniment music structure, and consists of a ‘slow-fast’ form.
