The Relationship among University Elite Players' Perceived stress, Emotional Intelligence and Competitive anxiety of Collegiate elite athletes of China

초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between Perceived stress, Emotional Intelligence and Competitive Anxiety of Collegiate elite athletes in China. Participants of this study were 243 (male=187, female=56, Mean age=19.43) collegiate elite athletes. Data were collected by using Perceived Stress Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale, and Competitive Anxiety Scale, and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, correlation, and structural equation modeling(SEM). The results of this study revealed as follows. First, Perceived Stress has a statistically significant and static impact on Competitive Anxiety. Second, Perceived Stress has a statistically significant and static impact on Emotional Intelligence. Third, Emotional Intelligence has a statistically significant and static impact on Competitive Anxiety. And lastly, within the relationship between the Perceived Stress and Competitive Anxiety, Emotional Intelligence functioned as a partial mediated effect. To sum up, the higher the level of Emotional Intelligence, the lower the Collegiate elite athlete's level of Perceived Stress and Competitive Anxiety. Therefore, there is a need to provide intervention to improve emotional intelligence for the collegiate elite athletes in emotional intelligence.
