單語聯想에 관한 調査 연구(Ⅰ)

초록

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the Korean word association process, method, and result through the research of the word association. 957 high school students, 1,128 college students, and 96 adults have participated in the research. By the method of the free word association, each wrote a word or phrase within 10 seconds against stimulating words. The response was divided into the association with language and the association with image. In addition to these two association causes, social and cultural causes were regarded as the variables. The results of the research are as follows; 1) The experience-based association which is difficult to explain with language association was shown. 2) Some responses displayed one's social status. 3) In the case of stimulus words that have a direct relationship with senses, illustrative stimulus words were strongly shown. 4) The more the response is recent and related to the basic human desire, higher the frequency. 5) The word association depends more on the emotional meaning than the conceptual meaning. The reason is that the meaning related with image elicits the immediate response.
