초록

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the actor-partner effects of covert narcissism and conflict resolution strategies on the marital satisfaction of husbands and wives. Method: Data were collected through a professional research company, and the data from 337 couples was analyzed to test the structural model and individual mediation effects. Results: First, in the direct actor effects, covert narcissism in both husbands and wices was associated with lower marital satisfaction. In the direct partner effects, husbands' covert narcissism predicted lower marital satisfaction in wives. Second, in the indirect actor effects, covert narcissism in both husbands and wives was associated with less use of adaptive conflict resolution strategies, leading to lower marital satisfaction. In the indirect partner effects, husbands' covert narcissism was associated with wives' lower marital satisfaction due to their lesser use of adaptive conflict resolution strategies. Conclusion: By identifying the husband's covert narcissism as a factor influencing the wife's conflict resolution style and marital satisfaction, this study suggests the potential for developing interventions to enhance marital satisfaction that take into account gender-specific characteristics within in couple.
