초록

This paper examines the relationship between images and reality, which serves as the theoretical foundation for artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and discusses its significance through the lens of Zhuangzi’s Dream of the Butterfly. Zhuangzi, through this allegory, raises questions about the relationship between images and reality, as well as the distinction between the virtual and the real—issues that are particularly relevant in an era where the digitalization of everyday life has become widespread. Given that digital spaces now occupy a significant portion of our daily lives, it is time to carefully review relevant theories from both Eastern and Western philosophies to understand how we should perceive this new reality.
