사용자 중심 설계(UCD) 기반의 눈썹 메이크업 도구 디자인 연구

초록

This study proposes the design of cosmetic tools based on User-Centered Design(UCD) principles. Despite sustainability, personalized services, and beauty-tech-based functional tools emerging as core trends in the global beauty industry, cosmetic tools in actual use still show high contamination rates, posing risks of skin diseases and infections. During direct application to the skin, hygiene, adhesion, and usability are required simultaneously; however, current tools fail to fully meet these needs. To address this, UCD theory, including ISO 9241-210:2010, and prior research were reviewed to derive an analytical framework, identifying three structural characteristics― hygiene, skin adhesion, and usability―as key criteria. A case analysis of 168 Class 28 cosmetic patch designs registered with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (2021-2025) was conducted. Given the uniqueness of registered designs in application, form, and material, this study compared cases before and after the eyebrow patch design (Design No. 30-1216817-0000, filed March 28, 2023). The analysis confirmed that the design is differentiated by its specialized adhesion structure for the eyebrow’s curvature, a sealed delivery structure ensuring hygiene and uniform formulation distribution, and an intuitive usability-oriented structure. Unlike prior studies focusing mainly on antibacterial materials or surface treatments, this research applied UCD principles to structural design and validated them through official patent registration. The proposed eyebrow patch design thus presents a structural strategy integrating functional safety and user experience, highlighting the potential for cosmetic tool research to expand into practical industrial applications.
