Collection of poems, “Jeju Yemen”, has revolutionized Korea's “multicultural poetry” on two levels, targeting refugee applicants, the most excluded people in Korean society. One is that if the Korean multicultural poetry developed so far has been limited to the multicultural actors accepted by necessity by the Korean society of ‘marriage migrants, migrant workers, North Korean defectors, Korean-Chinese, and Goryeoin’, Korea's multicultural poetry to develop from now on is Korea It has expanded into a new multicultural subject called ‘refugee’, a ‘unfamiliar neighbor’ that society is not ready to accept. And the other is that through the ‘unfamiliar neighbor’, ‘refugee’, the beneficiary multicultural discourse and practice from above at the national level should be transformed into the right multicultural poem from the bottom being carried out at the citizen level. Based on these two dimensions of innovation, collection of poems “Jeju Yemen” is based mostly on the misunderstanding and ignorance of ‘refugee’ in Korean society, and this problem is not ‘refugee crisis’. Focused on the ‘crisis of responsibility’, it succeeded in shaping. And collection of poems “Jeju Yemen” also succeeded in shaping on the basis of new reflections and thoughts on “refugee,” which means that we can all become dangerous refugees through strategies and methods to overcome them. This poetic achievement of the poem collection “Jeju Yemen” heralds that Korean literature is now taking a new dimension by actively reflecting and thinking about “refugees” and “refugeeness.”
