초록
The Cheon-In Readers’ Award is awarded at the Korean Local Book Fair by selecting the grand prize and achievement award for books published by local publishers. “Cheon-In means one thousand readers and the “Cheon-In Readers’ Award” is sponsored by these thousand readers. Unlike other “book awards,” the “Cheon-In Readers’ Award has “locality” as an item for screening. This study has examined how locality is being implemented, focusing on books that have been awarded the grand prize for five years. Of the 15 winning works, all but one picture book are collaborations , made together by local publishers and authors who have settled in the region. As a result of the study, first, the major winners of the grand prize of the Cheon-in Readers’ Award contained records through exploration. Second, it was revealed that they intended to restore the lost local space, or placeness, to recover the community fellowship and consciousness of people living there. Third, a new geography book was made by combining humans, nature, culture, and history with a geographical concept, and storytelling was done by regenerating memories. Based on these research results, the major winners of the Cheon-In Readers’ Award can be named books of human geography with exploration and books of local history with exploration.
