Effects of Job Stress, Coworker Support, and Job Embeddedness on Work–Life Balance among Male Nurses

초록

Purpose: This study examined the effects of job stress, coworker support, and job embeddedness on work–life balance among male nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was used. The participants were male nurses working in general or tertiary hospitals with at least six months of clinical experience. Data were collected from August 21 to 25, 2025, using a self-administered online questionnaire. Of the 168 responses, 158 were included in the analysis. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics 31.0. Results: Work–life balance positively correlated with coworker support (r=.48, p<.001) and job embeddedness (r=.61, p<.001). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that average daily overtime of 30–60 minutes (β=–.16, p=.023) and more than 60 minutes (β=–.31, p<.001) were negatively associated with work–life balance. In contrast, coworker support (β=.23, p=.014) and job embeddedness (β=.42, p<.001) showed significant positive effects on work–life balance. The final model explained 44.2% of the variance in work–life balance. Conclusion: Enhancing coworker support and job embeddedness while reducing excessive overtime may help improve work–life balance among male nurses.
