초록

Many firms today utilize the Internet and other information technologies to better manage their business operations and to gain a competitive advantage in their business environments. The business environments that they face can be best described as a digital economy where information flows freely and easily, and where business processes can be improved with the use of information technologies. At the core of the information technologies is the Internet. The Internet has played a key role in transforming and creating new business models for many organizations. Over time, it has become the infrastructure of choice in electronic commerce because it provides process efficiency, cost reduction and open standards that can easily be adopted by different organizations. The Internet, for instance, can be applied to coordinate supply chain processes with external organizations by integrating front- and back-end business processes; it has also allowed the organizations to better coordinate their worldwide business operations. Needless to say, the success of the Internet did not come without its share of difficulties and one such difficulty is its security. In this paper, we address the importance of security framework in managing the information shared among the parties in the supply chain process of organizations and suggest various security architectures that could provide solutions to the security concerns. This paper could provide valuable contributions to both academics and industry by addressing how security framework and architecture should be set in order to best deal with security concerns and provide the necessary support for supply chain process.
