초록
This study was to develop and validate the ‘Co-cognitive for the Giftedness Scale’ based on Houndstooth theory for middle school students(gifted and non-gifted students). This scale was developed into 6 sub-factors and 60 items. Two independent samples were recruited to validate the reliability and validity of the scale. First, 295 samples was used, resulting in the factors through exploratory analysis. It resulted in a scale of 5 sub-factors and 42 items, which consisted of ‘optimism’, ‘courage’, ‘romance with a topic/discipline’, ‘sensitivity to human concerns’, and ‘vision/Sense of destiny’. Second, 469 samples was used, yielding in 5 factors through confirmatory factor analysis(construct validity). Third, convergent validity was supported through correlations between ‘Co-cognitive for the Giftedness Scale’ and students’ ‘flow’, ‘creative personality’, ‘grit(perseverance of effort)’, ‘mastery goal orientation’, and ‘hope’. Forth, Cocognitive factors for the giftedness were compared between gifted and non-gifted student. It was observed that gifted students perceived more ‘optimism’, ‘courage’, ‘romance with a topic/discipline’, ‘sensitivity to human concerns’, ‘vision/sense of destiny’ than non-gifted students. The findings showed that the ‘Co-cognitive for the Giftedness Scale’ consisted of the valid and reliable factors to measure the non-cognitive giftedness factors of middle school students for the gifted. Implications of the findings were discussed in depth.
