유아 영어 읽기 교재 어휘 분석: 해외 출판사 A와 국내 출판사 B 교재를 기반으로

초록

This study analyzed vocabulary based on early childhood English reading textbooks from domestic and international publishers. The criteria for vocabulary analysis were set using 550 words from the Communication area of the current Nuri curriculum and 600 recommended words from the 2022 revised elementary English curriculum. When classifying vocabulary based on the communication area of the Nuri curriculum, the international textbook, A, included only 186 out of the 550 words, accounting for 33% of the total. In contrast, the domestic textbook, B, included 428 out of 550 words, representing 77.8% of the total. Furthermore, this study classified vocabulary in textbooks based on the recommended vocabulary list of the 2022 revised elementary English curriculum. Textbook A reflected 27.8% of the recommended vocabulary, while textbook B reflected 39.6%. This suggests that the domestically published textbook, B, has a greater coverage of vocabulary related to the Communication area of the current Nuri curriculum than the internationally published textbook A. The results also demonstrate that the B textbook published domestically reflects elementary English vocabulary better than the A textbook published abroad. The textbooks published domestically have been found to be more appropriate when considering the overall Korean curriculum.
