초등학교 고학년 학생들의 가정의 심리적 환경, 기본심리욕구 및 학교 참여 간의 관계

The relationship among family environment, basic psychological needs, and school engagement of upper elementary school students in Korea

초록

This study was to examine the relationship among the family environment (i.e., FE), the basic psychological needs (BPNS), and the school engagement (SE), and to explore direct and indirect effects on BPNS and SE. Of the 900 fifth to sixth-grade elementary school students in Seoul, Busan, and Incheon metropolitan cities in Korea, a total of 851 students (94.6%) completed and returned the questionnaires. Measures of students’ FE (i.e., interpersonal relationship, personal growth, and system maintenance), BPNS (i.e., autonomy, competence, and relatedness), and SE (i.e., behavioral engagement, cognitive engagement, and emotional engagement) were obtained. The results indicated that FE, BPNS, and SE were positively correlated with each other. FE had positive direct effects on both BPNS and SE. Also, FE had an indirect effect on SE through BPNS. It is expected that the findings of this study will be utilized as foundational resources for developing ways of enhancing students’ school engagement.
