Regional Income Inequality Variations in China

초록

One of the most important problems for China is the gaps between the economies of the different regions of China. The anlysis shows that there is no supports for the view that regional inequality in China fell significantly during periods such as that of the Cultural Revolution or rose as a result of market-oriented reforms. The reality in China in the 1980s is in fact quite in contradiction to the most people's perceptions. The rich did not grow richer nor did the poor grow poorer.
