한국 신화의 여신에 대한 대중의 인식 양상 연구 -MBTI 성격유형 검사 및 LDA 토픽모델링 분석을 중심으로-

초록

To determine the nature of goddesses in Korean myths, previous studies applied methodologies involving classification and analysis of changing patterns. However, these were limited in terms of revealing their multi-layered characters in general. Following the shift from a matriarchal to a patriarchal society, goddesses underwent changes including their subordination to men or degradation in terms of creativity and power. Myths are not fixed texts, but they tell stories transmitted over a long accumulation process. Myths are joint works based on layers of many years, meaning that goddesses in myths have multi-layered characters. Based on an MBTI personality test, this study investigated the perceptions of goddesses' multi-layered characters among the public. Subjects were asked to answer each item in the MBTI test by getting immersed in goddess characters and giving reasons for their answers via essay questions to supplement the reliability and specificity of their answers. The results reveal various types rather than one prevailing type. This indicates that those who enjoyed myths understood goddesses in multiple layers according to the ways they read texts. A follow-up study will supplement differences according to the respondents’ tendencies. The present study adopted a quantitative and hierarchical approach regarding the items that exhibited differences among the responses based on variance and standard deviation calculations, trying to avoid subjective analyses of the respondents’ answers as much as possible. After processing their answers as data and identifying keywords, word clusters with strong relationships were selected for topic modeling analysis. The narratives the respondents based their inferences for the characters of goddesses on were clarified. The multi-layered characters of goddesses were investigated by adopting different methodologies from previous studies.
