Association between Self-rated Health and Health Behaviors among Korean Older Adults by Gender - The 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey -

초록

This cross-sectional study verified the associations between self-rated health and health behaviors through secondary analysis of data from 1302 male older adults and 1683 female older adults aged ≥65 years, collected raw data from the 7th Korea national Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(2016‐2017). The associations between self-rated health and health behaviors were verified utilizing t-test, Chi-square test and logistic regression. As a result of the study, self-rated health showed worse as an age increased in both male and female older adults. In male older adults, the factors including smoking(OR=0.569, 95% CI: 0.398-0.816), aerobic exercise(OR=1.462, 95% CI: 1.133-1.886), health check-up(OR=0.667, 95% CI: 0.493-0.902) influenced self-rated health. In female older adults, the factors including aerobic exercise(OR=1.519, 95% CI: 1.132-2.039), health check-up(OR=1.456, 95% CI: 1.097-1.934) influenced self-rated health. Health behaviors is recognized significant in order to improve self-rated health of older adults, and while development and intervention of gender-considered health education program are required.
