초록

Ryu Dongmin’s new book is an interesting accomplishment to help understand modern capitalism through the prism of capitalized time. Contemporary time is captured by capital. That time is reversible, recurred to the present and discounted for the future. It is revealed as the power of capital in the context of the “internalization of exteriority”. Several important issues remain to be discussed further: 1) in the analysis, can the relationship between commodity subjects be replaced by those between human subjects? 2) ambiguous arguments on the relations between abstract labor and the abstractness of labor time should be elaborated, 3) clarifying the relationship between concrete time vs. abstract time on the one hand and private labor vs. social labor on the other hand, 4) the metaphor, the thing-in-itself, reveals a weakness in understanding Marx’s analysis, and 5) the need to expand the labor problem beyond the question of simple/complicated labor.
