아버지의 일-가정갈등이 아동기 자녀의 주의력 결핍 및 과잉행동 장애 경향에 미치는 영향 : 아버지의 양육 스트레스의 매개효과

초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of fathersʼ parenting stress on the relationship between fathersʼ work–family conflict (WFC) and childrenʼs Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms. The data were drawn from the 14th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children conducted by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education. The participants consisted of 449 employed fathers whose children scored one or higher on the DSM ADHD symptom scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics version 23 and SPSS PROCESS Macro version 4.3. The results were as follows. First, fathersʼ WFC and parenting stress were found to be at a moderate level, whereas childrenʼs ADHD symptoms were relatively low. Second, fathersʼ WFC was positively correlated with parenting stress, and parenting stress was positively correlated with childrenʼs ADHD symptoms. In addition, a weak but significant positive correlation was found between fathersʼ WFC and childrenʼs ADHD symptoms. Third, parenting stress had a significant positive effect on childrenʼs ADHD symptoms, whereas fathersʼ WFC showed a significant negative direct effect after controlling for parenting stress. Finally, mediation analysis confirmed that fathersʼ parenting stress partially mediated the relationship between fathersʼ WFC and childrenʼs ADHD symptoms, with direct and indirect effects operating in opposite directions. These findings suggest that fathersʼ WFC may indirectly influence childrenʼs ADHD symptoms through parenting stress, while also showing a direct association when parenting stress is taken into account.
