The relationship between the physical self-perception profile and mental health on participation of Yoga in college physical education class

초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the physical self-perception profile and mental health on participation of Yoga in college physical education class. The subjects were 167 of Yoga class participants and 140 of non-participants in Yoga in Seoul and Kyungki-do areas. The questionnaires of physical self-perception profile and mental health were used and the results were as follows. The first, the female Yoga non-participants showed higher score than the female Yoga participants in body shape and competence of physical self-perception profile. The second, the Yoga participants showed higher score than the Yoga non-participants in depression, hostility, and anxiety of mental health. The third, only the condition influenced to the depression, hostility, anxiety, and phobia of Yoga participants regarding to the relationship between the physical self-perception and mental health. The Yoga Non-participants showed that the depression, anxiety, and phobia condition influenced to the condition. The hostility of non-participants influenced to the physical fitness and condition. Also, both of the participants and non-participants showed that the physical fitness and condition influenced to the somatization and the sense of emptiness and symptoms of sensitive influenced to the condition. In addition, the psychiatric symptoms of Yoga participants influenced to the condition.
