마스크를 활용한 역할창조: 마스크 연극 <소라별 이야기>를 중심으로

초록

Actors act characters with lines, facial-expressions, and gestures. Especially the actor's expression is the most basic expression unit that expresses the joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure of the character. However, when actors wear a mask, the actor’s face will be invisible also impossible to express under the mask. Since the image of the mask is fixed, the facial-expression would not change while the actor is acting. However, when an actor with a mask uses various movements in order to maximize the accuracy of ges- ture and emotional change according to present emotions, the fixed facial-expression on the mask begins to move. Along with this, in order to maximize the image of the mask, the actor becomes one with the mask when changing and expanding the actor’s original voice. In this sense, the variation of voice and the variation of gesture are the most important factors in the creation of characters in mask plays. In this paper, the role creation in the mask play: <The story of Sora’s star> is considered, which the the author participated, furthermore expecting to be a methodology in another study in creating various roles.
