[ɨ]/Ø 교체 접미사의 입력형 설정에 관한 쟁점 재고찰: /ɨ/로 시작하는 입력형을 위한 /h/-탈락으로부터의 증거

초록

This paper revisits an issue on the inputs of [ɨ]/Ø-alternating suffixes in Korean. This issue has been left with wide disagreement among previous studies. This paper attempts to support one of the conflicting views: the /ɨ/-initial forms should be the inputs of these suffixes. To provide crucial evidence for this view, this paper analyzes the relatedness of /h/-deletion and [ɨ]/Ø alternation, focusing on the forms where a stem-final /h/ is followed by an [ɨ]/Ø-alternating suffix. In this analysis, it is shown that the stem-final /h/ would not be deleted if the inputs of these suffixes could not begin with /ɨ/. Because the actual outputs of /h/-final stems followed by these suffixes do not include the final [h], this situation tells us that the inputs of these [ɨ]/Ø-alternating suffixes should begin with /ɨ/. Accordingly, this analysis leads to the conclusion that the /ɨ/-initial forms are the inputs of [ɨ]/Ø-alternating suffixes.
