초등학생 자녀를 둔 가족의 부모자녀 관계증진 프로그램 참여 경험에 관한 연구

초록

The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a prevention program to enhance the parent-child relationship and to explore the participants’experience of the program. For this purpose, a 9-session group program was provided on six children and their mothers who were recruited at the same elementary school in Seoul, Korea. A focus group interview was conducted on the mothers and they were asked about the effectiveness and short-term outcome of the program. The major results emerged from the interview data were as follows. First, the solution-oriented approach resulted in a better understanding of the nature of their relationship with their children. The experiential mode of the program, not a lecture mode, was pointed to be an advantage of understanding better their child as a person as well as providing insights on relationship concerns and issues. Next, the potential role of schools was strongly proposed in facilitating the supply and distribution of a social service program such as this; the relationship of the mothers as peer participants was developed into a self-help group. These results suggest that this type of social service program with a prevention perspective can facilitate the screening of a potential need for or the entry into parent education and family counseling.
