The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the running performance by comparing the cleat position changes of the cycling between the lower extremities ROM and calf muscles fatique. Nine triathon athletes with four years of experience were divided into five experimental and four control groups. in the lower extremities joint angle test, the experimental group wears the cycle between the traditional cleat position(TCP) and aft cleat position(ACP), and maintains the same gear ratio and 60 rpm, and according to the position of the crank arm. In the calf fatigue test, the calf muscles were analyzed using data obtained from ankle jump after 5km power cycle between the experimental and control groups. According to the position of the cleat position, the TCP range of motion was higher when the crank arm was 270° than ACP, and the difference between the ankle joint(TCP:85±1.9, ACP:88.3)(p<.05) and the hip joint was not significant. Calf muscle fatigue was measured by TCP higher than ACP(TCP:2.8±1.9cm, 0.0±0.2cm)(p<.05). the calf muscle fatigue is closely related to running performance. ACP had a positive effect on the calf muscle fatigue, and the cause was that the calf muscle fatigue was reduced due to the reduced range of knee joint movement during the cycling. ACP is expected to help improve running performance by reucing the calf muscle fatigue during cycling in multisport events such as triathlon and duathlon.
