초록

Changes in organizational career context stimulated the emergence of concept of "protean career" that emphasizes individuals' career identity and career adaptability. In a similar vein, subjective career success has been paid increasing attention to capture individual career success. This study aimed at identifying the moderating effect of rank and service period on the relationship between protean career attitudes and subjective career success in case of military officers. Protean career attitudes consist of self-directed career management and value-driven predispositions, and career satisfaction and employability were used to measure subjective career success. Data were collected from 303 military officers. Result showed that self-directed career management had a positive effect on both career satisfaction and employability. Value-driven predispositions had a positive effect on career satisfaction, but showed no significant effect on employability. The rank did not reveal moderating effect on both career satisfaction and employability, while service period had a negative effect on employability. The result implies that military HRD interventions need to take initiatives to develop protean career attitude of military officers for their career development.
