슬라브 민간신앙(Folk Beliefs) 연구 - ‘미신(Superstition)’을 중심으로
초록
Slavs are superstitious people. Historically, the Slavs, who believed in the popular religion of polytheism, accepted the Orthodox Church from the Byzantine Empire and were placed in an environment of dual faith(dvoeverie). In this process, a unique culture emerged through the fusion of polytheistic popular beliefs and the monotheistic doctrines of the Orthodox Church. Folk beliefs are maintained by reflecting Christian elements, or Christian doctrines absorb elements of popular beliefs, resulting in the emergence of unique beliefs and lifestyle customs unique to the Slavs. This integrated form of tradition and customs is still vividly alive in the daily lives of Slavs. Among them, superstitious thinking and lifestyle are very characteristic. These superstitious behavior patterns and lifestyles are formed by social, cultural, and religious factors with the purpose of counteracting the influence of 'supernatural forces' that humans cannot predict or respond to. The Slavs, who had a natural environment filled with vast lands, rugged mountainous regions, and rough canyons and rivers, were the subject of fear and awe of natural disasters and wild animals. This phenomenon was thought to be the anger or jealousy of gods or spirits, and specific rituals were developed to appease this. This 'supernatural force' that mankind fears has existed since the Mesopotamian civilization, and is considered the so-called 'evil eye'. The evil eye is very closely related to superstition and has been used as a means of controlling a people's society and culture. In this paper, we will analyze the superstitious beliefs and actions of Slavs based on the 'evil eye'.
