비사례적 규칙성 설명과 귀납에 대한 설명주의적 접근

초록

Some philosophers (e.g. D. Armstrong, J. Foster) argue that we cannot use inference to the best explanation to solve the problem of enumerative induction when we have the Humean notion of explanation. In this paper,I argue that, even though their conclusion is largely correct, the existence of non-instantial regularity explanation shows that their arguments are fundamentally unsatisfactory. For this reason, I propose a new argument for the same conclusion which can accommodate the considerations concerning non-instantial regularity explanation.
