대학생의 구미호 인식 양상 연구 — MBTI 성격유형 검사 및 토픽 모델링 분석을 중심으로 —

초록

This study analyzed university students' perceptions of gumihos, targeting 43 students in the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Chung-Ang University. To achieve this, we utilized the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality test, a psychological assessment tool, and conducted a follow-up survey to address its limitations. After administering two MBTI tests and questionnaires, the results were analyzed using text mining and topic modeling. The results of both tests revealed that gumihos consistently exhibited extroversion (E), thinking (T), and planning (J) tendencies. These tendencies persisted before and after studying classical literature. However, their perception shifted from intuitive (N) to sensing (S), suggesting that the public now understands gumihos' behavior as a matter of course, rather than simply instinct. Furthermore, the survey revealed that while gumihos are portrayed as women in their 20s or 30s, they are perceived as beings with a lifespan of over 1,000 years, demonstrating their "human-like yet transcendent" nature. These results demonstrate that the multifaceted perceptions of the gumiho (gumiho) depicted in classical literature are being inherited by today's college students. This suggests that the image of the gumiho from classical literature is being reproduced and transformed in modern popular culture, yet is still perceived as a "traditional being." While maintaining its identity as a fox monster distinct from humans, as depicted in classical literature, the gumiho holds the potential to be reinterpreted as a being living in modern society. Therefore, the gumiho can be continuously transformed in popular culture content and is a valuable entity that can be utilized as a material for cultural education.
