To examine the 1st Chosun Baseball Competition hosted by the Chosun Sport Association(CSA), focusing on the relationship between the CSA and Dong-A Ilbo, the reason why the baseball competition was held as the first business and why Maeilsinbo was selected as a sponsor, the conclusions of the study are as follows. After its foundation, the Dong-A Ilbo published an editorial emphasizing the need for sports organizations for the Chosun sports community, providing an opportunity for the foundation of the CSA. In Addition, an official from the Dong-A Ilbo also participated as the founding promoter of the CSA. The Chosun Baseball Competition hosted by the CSA was able to be held because many of the promoters were including officials from Dong-A Ilbo, those who had studied abroad in Japan and baseball players. Also, since Chosunilbo and Dong-A Ilbo, which were national newspapers, were suspended for publishing articles criticizing the Japanese Government-General of Korea and the Japanese imperial family, Maeilsinbo was determined as the sponsor in order to secure the finances of the competition. The Chosun Baseball Competition is the beginning of the National Sports Festival, which is currently the best sports festival in Korea. Therefore, it is still highly meaningful for Korean sports history to this day.
