Queen Seon-deok appeared in diverse literatures in the later generations after she passed away. Examination of records on her shows that their appearances were concentrated in the upper period of Silla Kingdom and had relationship with the line of King Gyeongmun in particular. She was not only remembered by people in the later generations but also commemorated and granted the title of the kingship to her who was unthroned at the national level. The central arena for her remembrance and commemoration was Temple Youngmyosa and the Royal Tomb for her founded in her reigning period. Temple Youngmyo functioned as the original temple for praying for the repose of her soul and rituals for commemorating and granting the title of the kingship to her who was unthroned and died were held in Temple Youngmyosa and her Royal Tomb. There were often cases that princess did not issue from the main line of descent since the end of the medium period of Silla Kingdom. In this process, the possibility that the queen might be enthroned was groped and Queen Seondeok was noticed as the first case of the enthronement of the queen. But there was a negative view that Queen Seon-deok was enthroned. But it changed as the 9-storied wooden stupa of Hwangnyongsa Temple was built in the reigning period of King Gyeong-mun. This change became the background that made the enthronement of the queen possible again in the lower period of Silla Kingdom, 250 years after the enthronement of the first queen. Queen Seon-deok was the cause for enthronement of Queen Jin-seong and the foundation for her regal power. She was remembered and granted the title of the kingship to her who was unthroned at the national level, which was closely bound up with the political background that the queen was enthroned in the lower period of Silla Kingdom.
