청소년의 학업 관련 태도 척도(SAAS-R)의 신뢰도 및 타당도

This study was to examine the validity of the School Attitude Assesment Scale-Revised(SAAS-R) using a sample of 334 junior-high school students in metropolitan cities, Korea. Participated students completed the SAAS-R along with measures of one's beliefs about intelligence (i.e., incremental and entity beliefs) and academic achievement. Confirmatory factor analysis mainly supported the five factors representing academic self-perceptions, attitudes toward teachers, attitudes toward school, goal valuation, and motivation/self-regulation. However, six items in the SAAS-R were crossloaded in more than one factor and finally deleted. The final version of the SAAS-R consisted of 29 items, each of which being an indicator for one of five factors. Coefficients of internal consistency varied from .80 to .92 for the five factors. Convergent validity was supported through correlations between the SAAS-R factors and students' beliefs about intelligence and academic achievement. Criterion-related validity was supported by mean differences on the four factors (i.e., academic self-perceptions, attitudes toward teachers, attitudes toward school, goal valuation, and motivation/self-regulation) of the SAAS-R between groups of students with three levels of academic achievement (i.e., high, average, and low) and with two types of one' beliefs about intelligence (i.e., incremental and entity beliefs).
