조선조 기설제의 연구-서울대 규장각본 『기우제등록』의 기록을 중심으로

Joseon was an agricultural country based on Confucianism and held climate ceremonies based on "the theory of sensation between heaven and man". It has been believed that heaven responds to human behavior according to "the theory of sensation between heaven and man " and thus sets the pattern of climate protocol. Among them, records related to the ritual for snow are very rare. The main library studied and analyzed the records and articles related to ritual for snow in the 祈雨祭謄錄(Giuje-dengrok Archive), which collected data on climate rituals for about 250 years from King Injo's 14th year (1636) to King Gojong's 26th year (1889). Looking at the background of the implementation, it was confirmed that it was carried out in the late Joseon period to prevent insect infestation and to promote a good harvest for the following year, prevent winter droughts, and protect crops from being damaged by cold weather. Although the ritual was greatly influenced by the style of rain ritual in terms of ritual step and location, it was only carried out in Confucian rituals, rather than non-Confucian methods. In contrast to the rain ritual, the ritual for snow does not show the king's participation. This seems to be due to the damage to the king's honor and difficulties in follow-up measures if the king's participation did not have any effect. “writings for snow calling ceremony” is recorded as 4word-poetry in total and does not differ much from the principles of writing for rain ceremony.
