초록
This study is about the process of The Korean women’s table tennis team winning the gold medal in the 32rd World Table Tennis Championships(WTTC) in 1973. The first overseas competition for the Korean women’s table tennis team was the 3rd Asian Table Tennis Championships(ATTC) held in Singapore(1954). After competing against Hong Kong and Japan, they only won the silver medal. Until the 9rd ATTC held in Indonesia(1968), Korean women won the gold medal for the first time in Asia. The first world-level competition for the Korean women’s table tennis team was the 23rd World Table Tennis Championships (WTTC). But it was not until the 25rd WTTC that they won a silver medal. This boosted their confidence in winning the championship. However, women’s table tennis failed to continue to participate in the WTTC due to ideological, social, and economic reasons. 10 years later (1969), they participated in the 30th WTTC (Munich) and won sixth place. And in the 31th WTTC, they won the bronze medal. Finally, women’s table tennis won the championship at the 32rd WTTC(Sarajevo).
