Phytosterols and alkaloids from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum

Mushrooms have long been recognized for their bioactive and medicinal properties. Using repeated column chromatography, three phytosterols and two alkaloids were isolated from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum. The structures were identified as (22E)-23-methylergosta-5,7,22-trien-3β-ol (1), (22E)-ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3β-ol (2), 5α,8α-epidioxy-(22E,24R)-ergosta-6,22-dien-3β-ol (3), 2,4-dihydroxypyrimidine (4), and 5-hydroxypyrrolidin-2-one (5) by analyses of1H-NMR and13C-NMR spectroscopy in combination with mass spectrometry. Compounds 1 and 5 were isolated from G. lucidum for the first time. © The Korean Society for Applied Biological Chemistry 2024.
