초록
This paper introduces the 『Five Thousand Year History Song』 which was previously unknown in the world of scholarship. In addition, it examines its characteristics and meaning. The 『Five Thousand Year History Song』 book includes two works with the same title: 「Five Thousand Year History Song」 and 「Song of Mount Geumgang」. The author’s name is Song Yeong-seok, and it was published in 1948 by Donggwang Newspaper in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do. Song Young-seok (1907-1992) is a member of the same family as master singer Song Soon-seop. He learned pansori as a hobby when he was younger, and at the end of the Japanese colonial period, he learned it from master singer Lee Dong-baek. After graduating from Gwangju Agricultural College, he could not withstand the pressures of Japanese colonial rule, so he retreated to Mt. Geumgang to practice music. Following liberation, he wrote 「Five Thousand Year History Song」 and performed it in different locations to boost national spirit. The song, titled 「Five Thousand Year History Song」 recounts our country’s history from the Old Joseon Dynasty to the Revolution. The content of this work can be roughly divided into three categories: critical awareness of Japan, admiration for Jeoluijisa, and a call to vigilance and determination against division.
