The deeds of Laozi, the founder of Taoism, were included along with Zhuangzi, Shenbuhai, and Hanfei in Laozizhuan, a collection of the deeds of several people. In this paper, I will examine the issues seen in the criticisms of writers in the traditional period on Laozizhuan from two aspects. First of all, I looked at whether the criticism of the ambiguous description and lack of credibility was valid. Next, I saw if Simaqian respected the Taoism and disparaged the Confucianism. The data he could refer to at the time were probably compiled by Laozi's followers. Among them, it would have been difficult to select reliable content.
