초록

This study examined the fusion points and scopes of classical literature and cultural content to expand the research areas of classical literature. There should be methodologies to overcome differences in time distance, genre, and medium in order to include classical literature content in the research area of classical literature. Researchers have proposed such methodologies including transmedia storytelling, narrative Possible Worlds theory, and content-based old novel research methodology. Each of them has a different starting point in a theoretical design, but they all engage in academic searches to jump over time distance with a focus on similarities between classical literature and cultural content and overcome differences in genre and medium between literature and content. The multiple identities of classical literature should be recognized to traverse between classical literature and cultural content in terms of genre. Classical literature is not only the legacy of people’s spiritual culture, but also contains fantastic and unrealistic story elements. It offers multi-layered hybrid outcomes with diverse and heterogeneous elements accumulated in them. It is needed to take an approach in rhizomatic derivation and expansion and three-dimensional development through contact and differentiation in order to understand the multiple identities of classical literature and their variations as cultural content. These research methods should be necessarily oriented toward interdisciplinary fusion researches and pursue an expansion from literature study to culture study. Cultural content with classical literature as a material is not called classical literature, but it is for certain that it offers cultural content including elements of classical literature’s variations according to times. When a classical literary man approaches it by traversing genres, he can find the most appropriate object of research.
