일제강점기 권번 기생의 일람표 연구(3) - 기성권번(1929년) 소속의 기생 중심으로 -

This article analyzed the bibliography of the current table containing the list of gisaeng of Giseong-kwon's clan in mid-May 1929 to identify the learning system at Gisaeng training center, that is, Pyongyang Gisaeng School. The current list of gisaeng in Giseong-kwonbeon as of mid-May 1929 is also a kind of ‘first diary’ or ‘list’, and the list of gisaeng totals 201 people. The Giseong Gwon clan in Pyongyang operated an attached three-year gisaeng school. It was located near the Daedong River and was operated by about 10 large-scale restaurants scattered around the area. The Gisaeng Association was established in Pyongyang as early as 1908. Pyongyang Gisaeng School, or gisaeng training center, contributed not only to the education of Pyongyang gisaeng of the time, but also to presenting a framework for modern traditional performing arts education. The Pyongyang Gisaeng School performed various skills it had been practicing for three years at its annual graduation presentation at Danseongsa Temple in Seoul. The gisaeng school attached to Giseonggwonbeon in Pyongyang is a three-year school, and it is more accurate to view it as a ‘gisaeng training center’ rather than a regular gisaeng school. The 201 gisaengs belonging to Giseong Kwon-beon in 1929 are important data for research on the list of 1,075 gisaengs, even if there are duplicate lists, including 398 and 476 people in the ‘Joseon Gwon-beon and Jongno Gwonbeon Yegiwolbo (list)’ as of 1938. I think that in the future, more data will be discovered and we will be able to see the full story of Gwonbeon's gisaeng.
