The escalating focus on social sustainability has led to a reevaluation of transportation modes, particularly the impact of active travel on societal well-being. With the increase of urbanization and the need to address environmental concerns, the social implications of active travel, such as walking and biking, have gained significant attention. This research explores the connection between online shopping and active travel, particularly in the United States. Using data from the 2017 National Household Travel Survey (NHTS), a binary regression model reveals that online shopping increases the adoption of active travel for local errands or in-store pickups. These insights can guide policymakers in shaping urban mobility and sustainability strategies. By promoting infrastructure that supports both active travel and efficient logistics for e-commerce, cities can enhance accessibility, reduce environmental impacts, and improve public health.
